What is the meaning of Kairos time?

Presence in the Vertical Moment

In Greek, kairos refers to the “right” moment, a time when conditions are perfect for a particular action or event.

Unlike chronos, which represents chronological or sequential time—measured in minutes, hours, and days—kairos is about qualitative time, the “vertical moment” that cuts through the linear flow of chronos.

It’s a moment of significance, where everything aligns, allowing something meaningful to happen.

While chronos ticks along steadily, kairos invites us to recognize and seize those pivotal instances that have the power to transform the course of events.

What Does Kairos Have to Do With Survivor Resilence?

Kairos moments reflect a crucial point in a survivor's journey—moments of profound insight, fueling life-changing decisions, or the adoption a renewed mindset to face the challenges ahead. This period of heightened awareness, emotional or spiritual growth, and transformation can significantly impact their resilience, giving them the strength to persevere through the healing process.

Kairos moments of deep connection with others, receiving support from loved ones or connecting with fellow survivors are key interactions that foster resilience by providing a sense of community and shared experience, helping survivors feel less isolated in their struggle. The bonds formed during these moments often serve as an emotional lifeline, reinforcing their strength.
